GoPack\u2019s <strong>corporate sustainability<\/strong> initiatives also focus on <strong>protecting the ecosystem<\/strong>. For this reason, we have decided to support <strong>OlivaMi Ets<\/strong> to promote the reforestation in the Salento area, adopting 55 olive trees, in response to the devastation brought by Xylella.<\/p>\n<p>Xylella Fastidiosa, commonly known as <strong>Xylella<\/strong>, is a bacterium that spreads in the lymph vessels of olive trees: the vessels responsible for the supply of water and mineral salts, and that causes the rapid and progressive desiccation of the tree, leading to its death. <strong>In the last 5 years it has destroyed more than 21 million olive trees in Salento<\/strong>, erasing years and years of sacrifices of thousands of local farmers. All this has resulted in a <strong>80% reduction of salentino oil<\/strong>, leading to a decrease in national production of 50%. For 5 years now, the national production of olive oil is not able to meet the demand, and Italy, from a large producer country, has become an importer of olive oil.<\/p>\n\n      <\/div>\n    \n    <\/div>\n\n  <\/section>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"sezione-content-magazine\"  data-aos=\"fade-up\" data-aos-duration=\"900\">\n  <div class=\"box-magazine-bottoni\">\n                    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olivami.com\/olivami-for-business\/#contattoaziende\" class=\"btn btn-custom-05 hvr-sweep-to-right\" target=\"_blank\">ADOPT AN OLIVE TREE<\/a>\n        \n      <\/div>\n  \n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  <section class=\"sezione-content-magazine\"  data-aos=\"fade-up\" data-aos-duration=\"900\">\n\n    <div class=\"content-magazine\">\n          \n          <div>\n        <p>We at GoPack have always believed that <strong>food culture<\/strong> is the heart of the community and a heritage to be preserved. Supporting Salento means protecting the resources that nourish not only the body, but also traditions, strengthening the ties that unite us.<\/p>\n<p>We have decided to take part in this project for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supporting local farmers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More than 5,000 olive growers have lost everything due to Xylella: fields, work and traditions. It had a psychologically devastating impact, especially on those families whose only livelihood was olive groves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reduce the environmental impact<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Salento, the pollution rate has increased by 8% over the last 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>The olive tree is one of the plants with the highest capacity to subtract CO2 from the atmosphere: every hectare of olive trees removes 9.5 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year.
